Hello everybody, I hope you’re having an incredible day today. Today, I’m gonna show you how to prepare a special dish, french onion soup. One of my favorites. This time, I will make it a bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

French Onion Soup is one of the most favored of current trending meals in the world. It’s appreciated by millions daily. It is simple, it’s quick, it tastes delicious. French Onion Soup is something that I have loved my whole life. They are nice and they look wonderful.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook french onion soup using 11 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make French Onion Soup:
  1. Prepare 8 x Large white onions (Spanish)
  2. Take 4 x cloves garlic
  3. Take 4 sprigs thyme
  4. Take 1 x tablespoon Olive oil
  5. Get 50 g x Butter
  6. Get 50 ml x Brandy
  7. Get 200 ml x white wine
  8. Prepare 1.5 L x chicken stock
  9. Make ready 1/2 x baguette
  10. Get 200 g x grated gruyere cheese
  11. Make ready salt and pepper
Steps to make French Onion Soup:
  1. Peel and finely slice the onions, remove the core and cut with the grain. Chop the garlic at this stage as well. Then pick the thyme leaves
  2. Heat a large sauce pan, add olive oil, butter, seasoning and the onions, start on a high heat to get the browning process started. When the onions start to colour reduce the heat as you need to cook them long and slow to really caramelise them.
  3. When onions are a nice deep brown colour you add the brandy and flame if you like. Add the wine and then the chicken stock and allow to simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour. If the level reduces too far you can top up with water.
  4. Slice baguette or bread roll to around 1 inch thickness, make sure the crouton will fit in the soup bowl, drizzle with olive oil and bake at 180c until nice and toasted.
  5. Taste soup and adjust the seasoning to your likening, ladle into your oven proof soup bowls, top with crouton and then cover with the grated gruyere cheese.
